Blocked tear duct is a condition where the tear ducts are not connected or open enough to drain tears away from the eye. This results in a buildup of liquid that stimulates the eye to produce more tears. This can be caused by prolonged eye contact, an infection in the nose, congestion, or inflammation of the tissues and nerves around the tear ducts.

Blocked tear ducts in babies generally tend to resolve themselves. A consultation with your doctor is recommended if your infant is experiencing unusually watery eyes without apparent reason or discharge, or if there are signs of discomfort or infection.
